Cranberry-Orange Sauce

This holiday season, feel free to slather all of your food in a lake of this incredibly sweet and tangy sauce! Tastes so delicious as jam on bread, on protein, swirled in your yogurt or oats, and much more!

I don’t know about you, but cranberry sauce plays a vital role on the Thanksgiving menu at my house. It goes on the stuffing, in the mashed potatoes, on the fresh loaf of bread, and then into nearly every dish for the next week until we run out! Such a staple, such a classic!

Every year before this one, I had just made the cranberry sauce recipe on the back of the cranberry bag. But, every year before this one, I wasn’t a food blogger. So, I decided to step up my game and try to make something a little bit more refined and special! I ended up using less sugar, using fresh hand-squeezed orange juice, and it ended up tasting soooo much better!

I now make cranberry sauce allllll the time (whenever I can actually find cranberries in the supermarket, that is)! It tastes to good on so many things, and I’m super excited to share some fun recipes (both sweet and savory) with y’all soon that include cranberry sauce!

Simple and Vegan Cranberry Sauce w/ Orange!

Your favorite festive sauce to slather on anything and everything!

Prep Time: 1 min – Cook Time: 15 mins – Yield: 2 cups

Ingredients:

– 3/4 cup water

– 1/4 cup fresh-squeezed orange juice

– 3/4 cup of sugar (feel free to use more if you prefer a higher sweet to tart ratio)

– 3 cups fresh, whole cranberries

Instructions:

– Add water, sugar, and orange juice to a sauce pan. Bring to a boil.

– Add cranberries to the pot and turn down the heat slightly. (If you hear popping noises do not be alarmed, just make sure you have a lid on the pot)

– If you prefer a less chunky sauce, you can use a fork or potato masher to break apart the cranberries further (but, this is not necessary)

– Refrigerate for at least 30 mins (the sauce should be cooled all the way through and have a jelly-like consistency).

– Enjoy!
